Amazing Italian Food, Employees were great and probably the best Italian food in the city! If you like robust flavors and fresh ingredients, you don't want to pass up this hidden gem!
Oh my, what a fantastic find. Visiting from Crown King and found Basil Garlic Bistro on the internet.
Fantastic pizza and salad; can’t wait to try other entrees because we will be back.
The owners are so charming, polite and fun.
Highly recommend.
Amazing food. One of the best kept secrets as it sits in the middle of a residential area. Family owned.
Food was amazing! One of the best Italian dishes I've had. Service was a little slow at times. Would definitely go back though!
Love this place. They don't have gluten free items, however, you can bring your own gluten free pasta and they will make and cater any of their dishes for you as they are made to order.
Took my family there to celebrate my youngest daughter’s 20th birthday (as my baby girl requested) Everyone was so welcoming and did a fantastic job making my daughter’s special day wonderful. Food, service and atmosphere were awesome. Thanks again and definitely will return.
Went to dinner with friends and had a great evening. Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations on menu selections (he was absolutely accurate). Everyone raved about their chosen entree. I had the Boscaiola and it was amazing! Other entrees included chicken Parm, Vongole, and a shrimp in wine sauce. Chef’s kiss!! It’s BYOB with a nominal corking fee. There aren’t a lot of tables inside but we wanted outdoors and the patio heaters did the trick, it was very comfortable. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and appreciated not having to rush. If you haven’t checked it out yet you’re missing a great gem in the neighborhood! Go!!
Awesome little family style place. The food is amazing. Everything I have had from there has great flavors. Small and quaint, but even if you don't like small 10 table restos do yourself a favor and get carry out.
What an unexpected surprise. We came for lunch and had the meatball parm and chicken parm sandwiches. Both piping hot and delicious. The french fries were perfect. Crispy and flavorful. I would come back for just them. I'm hoping to try their pizza next time. Friendly staff. This is the perfect hidden gem.
Love this place. The food is very good. The Antipasto Salad was amazing…loaded with meats and cheeses. Pizza was very good. Service is top notch. Very easy to order on line and employees extremely friendly.
Love Claudio and Nadine!!! They are awesome, accommodating and great people! We have been going to Basil and Garlic for over a decade and love the food and them! If they have time, the antipasto platter is wonderful! We course dine here and love the BYOB!
My partner and I came with a huge hankering for pasta. This place did NOT disappoint. Both of us ordered specials, and they were, by far, the best pasta dishes we have ever had. Top 5 at least;) Then again, how could we not immediately know it was going to be good? The kitchen smelled AMAZING when we walked in! The people are super friendly, and to top it off with such a amazing food? You can't beat that. I can't wait to come back and see what new amazing dish the chefs comes up with next. I'll be sure to come with an empty stomach, and leave with a smile on my face.
The food was all excellent. Our server Johnny was super nice and gave good recommendations. The prosciutto wrap pasta was incredible. There is no wine/liquor on the menu but they allow you to bring your own for a small uncorking fee, and there is a store next door that sells a good selection of wine/beer.
Ah, let me take you on a journey through the culinary treasures of Italy, right here in the heart of Scottsdale! As I ventured into this unassuming strip center, little did I know that a delightful Sicilian haven awaited me. Nestled within its unpretentious exterior is a gem of a "mom and pop" establishment that captures the true essence of Italian hospitality and cuisine.
Picture this: a charming, cozy interior that warmly welcomes you, like a long-lost friend returning to their homeland. The clean ambiance sets the stage for an authentic experience. As I entered the realm of flavors, I was met with the inviting aromas of a kitchen that thrived with passion and tradition. The open kitchen concept not only bridges the gap between chefs and diners but also adds a dash of theatrical flair to the evening.
It was a Tuesday, around the golden hour of 5:30 PM, when my culinary journey began. The fact that this establishment operates on a BYOB basis is a charming nod to the communal spirit of Italian dining. Armed with my own bottle of wine, I took my place at a table that seemed to be waiting just for me, surrounded by ample space in which to savor the forthcoming feast.
Ah, the appetizers! A prelude to the symphony of flavors that was about to unfold. The artichoke and fresh baked bread danced harmoniously on my palate, their deliciousness singing in every bite. It's moments like these that reaffirm the magic of simple ingredients, handled with care and love.
Amidst the tantalizing aroma of pizza wafting around me, I found myself drawn to the allure of pasta. An ode to tradition, yet with a touch of creativity. While the majority reveled in the splendor of the pizza, I opted for the Chicken Marsala over linguini – a special of the night that promised an elevated experience. And oh, did it deliver! Tender chicken, the tangy burst of mushrooms, all enrobed in a silky linguini embrace. It was as if Sicily itself had whispered its secrets into this dish.
My dining companion, more adventurous in her choice, embarked on a journey of her own – the Boscaiola. Penne pasta, a canvas for a masterpiece of flavors: hearty sausage, earthy mushrooms, verdant spinach, and a brandy creme sauce that could only be described as divine alchemy. Each bite was a revelation, a tapestry of tastes interwoven in culinary brilliance.
But it wasn't just the food that left an indelible mark. The presence of the Italian owners, their smiles radiating as they prepared the evening's delights, elevated the experience to one of intimacy and authenticity.
So, my dear food enthusiasts, heed my words: this haven of Sicilian delights is more than just a restaurant. It's a portal to Italy, a testament to the power of heritage and passion. For those seeking not only exceptional food but an immersive journey, I implore you: surrender to the allure of this culinary treasure trove. You shall not be disappointed.
This is authentic Italian food and everything about this place is fantastic. Everything tastes extremely fresh and every noodle is cooked to perfection. The portions are large and their bread is warm and soft, no butter necessary.
The staff and service would make this place worth going to even if the food wasn't so fantastic. Everyone is extremely personable and kind. I will be recommending this place to anyone and everyone.
No wine sold on-site but they do solve this with an $8 uncorking fee and a liquor store 15 feet away. Which I would have usually dropped a star for but the food and staff make every penny worth it at this place.
For incredible food with a comfy laid back atmosphere, you need to visit. Chef Claudio crafts amazing dishes effortlessly and he and his bride Nadine are wonderful hosts. Our faves? The Basil & Garlic, Cioppino, and honestly, any pizza they build. We came here every other week when we lived in Scottsdale and make it a point to visit whenever we're back in town. We can't recommend B&G Bistro enough!

Absolutely incredible place. The food was so full of flavor and you could taste the passion that is put in the cooking. The service was wonderful and the owners are amazing. I will definitely be returning here for date nights in the future. My wife said that this ruined all other Italian food for her, it was that good!
After being closed for a number of months due to a fire, how could Claudio reopen with food that was even better than before. And he surely did!! Jacob and Johnny provide attentive, efficient service creating a perfect environment! My husband's pasta with four cheeses was obscene and although I just wanted a snack, my calzone was delicious and enough for four! So so glad that you're back in action and can't wait to enjoy you and your amazing food soon!!
This little bistro is well hidden among a large community. They are situated extremely well for their location and serve wonderful Italian dishes suitable for all palates. You bring your own wine or beverage and they have outside seating with misters. Everyone is friendly and so welcoming. Pizzas are delicious with home made dough and pastas are exquisite. Enjoy!
One word. DELICIOUS!
I’m visiting from out of town and decided to make a stop here. Everything was delicious! Make sure to save room for their homemade tiramisu. It’s so good. The service is also great. Love the friendly owners. Thanks for a delicious meal!
Randomly found this place and I'm so happy I did! The food was great and the staff was so kind and attentive. It's also family owned which is awesome. I will definitely be coming back here for future visits!
Excellent service and delicious food in this friendly neighborhood restaurant.
Pizza was really good, with a very good amount of each topping.
We are very happy we found this place and how to be back soon when we visit this area.
May I start this way. The staff here is caring. They will help you build your dinner desires. If you like pie.this is your place for a New York style thin. Tell them to crisp it and you will have a Chicago thin. And if you don’t go for their pasta you are foolish. Bring a bottle of wine they will bring beautiful glasses. Enjoy.
As I sit down for my 2nd meal in less than 4 days at Basil And Garlic. First time I came to this hidden gem, I ordered a pizza. The attentiveness from the staff is excellent and the pizza was delicious. So much so, I came 1 slice shy of eating a medium pie by myself.
I’m excited to try some of the Italian cuisine tonight but based on the previous reviews, I have no doubt its going to be awesome!
We were visiting Scottsdale, AZ from New Jersey and Maryland and found this wonderful local cuisine! The food and overall atmosphere were delicious and fabulous, as well as outstanding service! Highly recommend this place! ❤️❤️❤️
So unassuming from the outside, but this is for sure a hidden gem in the neighborhood, in the span of time we were in here we saw no less than 4 locals come through for their "regular". Staff was super friendly and attentive, made recommendations that were great. The pizzas are some of the better I've had in the area. Don't let the location fool you.
Service was exceptional, food was seasoned well, cooked to perfection, and great portion size. Not to mention the price of the food which is worth every penny. I didn’t get the servers name but he was amazing. Topped our night off. Best service I’ve had since visiting Arizona from Texas.
Absolutely loved the food , great portions and strong drinks. I recommend the pomegranate martini , it's sweet enough to just sneak up on you after a few. The brushetta was to good , and the salads are deceptively so filling
The B&G pasta was amazing, one of the best sauces I've ever had! All the food was great, a hidden little gym! Desserts were also super good, I'll be back!
Extremely tasty hand tossed pizza. The B&G special is great. Make reservations if you want to sit outside.
A “local” hipped us to this incredible Italian gem!
The entrees are delicious, seriously the best Alfredo I’ve ever eaten. From the artichoke chicken, to the meatballs & the cannoli, we enjoyed every bite! The service was great too.
The food was great, the service was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. We enjoyed a lovely evening with friends in the outdoor dining area.
The food was delicious! Out of the way place, like everyplace they need more help.
We were visiting from out of state & were looking for a pizza place. We ordered the Chef's Special pizza, cheese garlic bread, & the Meatball Trio. The pizza crust was airy & chewy (which is how we like it). My 6 year old said it was some of the best pizza & the garlic bread while a little over toasted on the bottom was still delish. If we are ever back in the area we will come back.
Couldn't be happier. Absolutely worth every penny. Feels like a family atmosphere, which it is. The secret menu item chicken Alfredo is to die for!
Great food and great service! This is a family run restaurant so it shouldn't be a surprise that they are consistently great. If you like a lot of cheese on your pizza then this is a good place for you. The lasagna is amazing too.
OMG. What a delicious find. Food was authentic and delicious. Owners we so nice. We will definitely be back!!!
Food is excellent, and Claudio (the owner) does a great job here! Good tip; order ahead and he is limited on space, and it can get busy very quickly, but overall, great stuff here! His meatball parm hero is really stout!!
Great food and service! Family owned and operated. They make you feel like Family.
An incredible mom and pop Italian restaurant. We have been going there for years and have never been dissapointed.
Tl;Dr Amazing pizza.
I have been on the lookout for places to become my favorite pizza place since moving out of the tri-state area (Ny, NJ, Pa) and if I weren't passing through Phoenix this place would quickly become a regular order of mine. Worth driving to and I'll certainly be eating there again next time I'm in the area!
Incredible food. Had The B &G and the pesto suave was the best. Only thing better was the cheesy garlic bread. I must visit.
For all my East Coast expats: You have to try little bistro called Basil and Garlic. The most authentic pizza I've had the pleasure of having the best, closest thing to East coast Pizza and eggplant parm in the past two years. Little place with tables inside and out. Try it out for yourself, you will NOT be disappointed!!
Wow! What an incredible find! We were in North Scottsdale and stumbled across this locally owned family place that is fantastic!
There are 10 tables indoors and a cute little patio as well. They don't serve alcohol, but there is a shoppette next where you can purchase and bring in for a very reasonable corkage fee.
Service was fast and friendly. I loved the open kitchen, especially when we could hear the chef singing along to the radio.
I had the signature dish, the BG Pasta. I ordered it with penne and shrimp. It was amazing! A creamy basil sauce with plump shrimp and perfectly cooked pasta. My friend had the eggplant parmesan with a a side of angel hair and marina. She loved every bite.
I also had a side house salad and was shocked at how tasty it was. The sliced pepperonci added such a great flavor.
We couldn't pass up the garlic bread with cheese and so glad we didn't!
This is out of the way for me, but I will absolutely visit again.
Claudio Delivers On Quality .. while working for him as his pm Dish in 2017 which i am thankful. each day he asked me to work i watched as he stressed consistency and follow through when teaching his cooks at the time where these values come into play.. every item has a Claudio signature and he's proud of each.. if your lucky nadine will cook your meal if claudio has time away .. be prepared its prepped and served with your enjoyment and hopeful return in mind.. as others say its byob.. the wine store next door allows you to bring their beverages in to the store as claudio has a freindship with the store gm/owner
TLDR great little place for delicious italian food.
The atmosphere is light hearted and fun. You will occasionally hear the owner/Chef Claudio sing along or whistle to whatever song is playing.
The decor is a very nice fit.
The service is polite with a smile and on point.
The food. Garlic bread was flavorful. Caesar salad really tasted fresh. The lasagna was delicious and the quattro formaggio was cheesey, tender noodles, and juicy tender chicken. The canolli was just right.
No complaints.
They have 'The Best" pizza in the valley. And the people are super friendly.
This place is amazing. Especially the arugula and prosciutto white pizza I believe it's the San daniele. Their wings are great!
Adorable little hidden gem!!!! We have ordered take out many times from them, as they are family owned...last night we went and had our first dinner out since Covid hit...we sat on the patio and had an amazing time!!! My husband had the Stromboli and absolutely loved it!!! My son had the chicken Alfredo (not on the regular menu) and he loved it also!!! He makes all the sauces in house!! The garlic cheese bread was to die for!!! We had an amazing time!!!
Great authentic Sicilian restrurant, small, family owned, not fancy, just great food in a quit little strip mall. We got there often. Bring your own bottle of wine for a small working fee, no liquor licence. Just great food😁
We enjoyed the calamari, basil and garlic specialty pizza and basil and garlic and shrimp pasta. The food is wonderful, service is great and they have a nice outdoor space. It is BYOB with a very low $5 corking fee. It is a small family run business, so whether you like to support small or enjoy great food, you can do both by patronizing this place.
Been looking for a place like this to eat and I finally found it definitely going to keep going there.
This is the cutest little Italian restaurant- truly a hidden gem. It’s a small, family owned business. The food reminds me of what we ate in Italy. It’s BYOB for wine, which is so cool! Everything we’ve ever ordered has been amazing and the service is always great! Beats any chain hands down! Give this local little spot a try, you wont regret it!
Our go-to neighborhood Italian restaurant! Definitely a best kept secret! We love the owners and all the staff! They go above and beyond to accommodate all our special requests, all the time! Thank u!!! BYOB is a bonus 😉
The owner came out and talked to us. Cool guy. Straight up told us how to make one of our dishes we really loved. Can't wait to try to duplicate. Odds are low, haha.. These guys are good.
Great place. Did take out tonight plain cheese pizza. Perfect crust, enough sauce and plenty of cheese. Awesome ate it all.
This is a neighborhood go-to..love their angel hair with shrimp and arugula, chicken cacitorri is belissimo!
Hidden Gem...Great food! Menu is diverse and that will customize anything for you!! Awesome experience every time!
Believe it or not if your lucky enough to happen across this quaint little bistro tuck away in the corner in Scottsdale az you can not go wrong stopping in meet the owner himself who from scratch makes an awesome Alfredo sauce that you could eat all by itself and be very satisfied. Very well. Done menu all food here is superb 👌
This place was SOOOOO GOOD it taste like it was made at someone’s home! The Staff was so fun and friendly! I will definitely be visiting their every time I’m in Scottsdale.... I wish I could give it 10 stars!
best A italian food in city, maybe the best Italian food I've ever had
Excellent food! Will be back :)
Wanted to support a local business, and elated that this was the pizza joint I selected. Delicious wings, amazing pizza, and fantastic garlic bread. Looking forward to eating here again soon.
Ordered take out and everything we ordered was so delicious! It all tasted like fresh ingredients were used and the dough on the pizza was perfect. We also ordered mild hot wings but didn’t receive that. They came plain but they were still great. Very large wings and came with a good amount.
Will definitely order again!
We got the Quattro Formaggi and it was delicious! The bistro is small, but the food was great and the prices for portions sizes was perfect. Definitely worth a visit for good variety pasta and pizza dishes. We will be back.
Food was fantastic, however, it took some time for it to be prepared. Servers were courteous & professional. Very observant, kept our tea & water glass full. Perhaps you need more personnel in the kitchen.
We will definitely be back.
Small place and not the cheapest but the food was really good. It was definitely worth the price for sure. The staff was nice and very accommodating. We had a baby with us and they worked around that great. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
A cute and quaint, local place to eat amazing and delicious Italian food. I highly recommend it, the tiramisu is also a must! The meal starts with homemade bread, butter, oil and balsamic. I had artichoke chicken for my entree and it was full of flavor and I love that the chicken was nice and thin.

Small, cozy, informal, friendly neighborhood spot. BYO wine. Excellent pasta dishes with fresh, great quality ingredients served hot from the skillet.
Night's special- sauteed chicken breasts with eggplant over linguine. Very good! Chicken was sliced thinly and pan seared & not dry like chicken breast can be.
